The Impact of Distribution Utility Rate Designs and Tariff Provisions on the Adoption of Distributed Energy Resources

A New Distributed Energy Project

Interested People and Organizations Are Invited To Join CAEM's Contact List for This Project

The Center for the Advancement of Energy Markets (CAEM) has received a grant from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to investigate the impact of distribution utility rate designs and tariff provisions on the adoption of distributed energy resources (DER). This project is certain to provide much useful information on the topic. Take this opportunity to receive updates and provide feedback as the work progresses by joining the contact list for the project.

The first phase of the study will gather the facts regarding regulatory proceedings and distributed energy resources in the United States. The project will consider the treatment of standby rates and many related matters. Future phases of the project are likely to be influenced by the participation of interested stakeholders. Depending on the feedback, the focus may remain relatively narrow (distribution service rates) or could branch into broader rate design and incentive structures that affect the pricing of the electric commodity, demand response, and the rate of adoption of distributed energy technologies.

If you would like to provide input into the project, receive e-mail updates or simply join the contact list, e-mail your contact information to the project's Principal Investigator, Nat Treadway, at ntreadway@caem.org.
