For the first time, CAEM will reveal the results of its Default Provider study.

  • Which models stymie and which encourage competition, and why?
  • How have price/rate caps been utilized? What distortions have they caused?
  • How have price caps increased the potential risks and liability of the default provider?

This wrap-up session will review the study’s results and recommendations. Among topics that will be explored:

  • What are the relative risks and costs implied for default providers and energy marketers resulting from the various models?
  • What are the potential benefits?
  • What incentives are utilized in the various models to encourage customers to choose a competitive supplier?
  • How do the various models deal with low-income customers, or customers with poor credit, and how do they distinguish between the two?
  • Is real-time pricing and demand/response factored into the models? How?
