CAEM's Convention for Friends of Competitive Energy Markets

Perhaps the most pernicious legacy of Enrons collapse is the organizational chaos left behind. Several difficult years have left the trade associations that advocate competitive electricity policies in a weakened condition. There is no coalition that is broader than corporate self-interest that would allow former secretaries of energy, governors, Nobel laureates, environmentalists, consumers, generators, utilities, and others to participate in the advocacy and support of competitive electricity policies. No single organization will dominate the funding of the movement like Enron. We need a mechanism for pooling and deploying funding to accomplish the needed reforms. Top energy trade associations will lead this discussion. |
