International Market Comparison of Energy Reforms

A New Project in Conjunction with the Australian Institute for Public Affairs

Advisory Board Memberships Sought

CAEM and the Australian-based Institute for Public Affairs are co-sponsoring a report comparing energy reforms in the natural gas and electric industries in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. CAEM is forming an advisory board for this project from which it will seek analytical and financial support.

The project will permit Advisory Board participants to collaborate and develop intercontinental contacts and relationships, as well as a better understanding of the markets. A report will be produced by the end of 2004 that will elucidate the key attributes of energy markets developments to assist policy markets in the represented countries to better understand the similarities and differences in the markets, and to gain insight as to what has worked and has not.

The study will led by CAEM CEO Ken Malloy and Dr. Alan Moran, Director of the Deregulation Unit of the Institute for Public Affairs. Private-sector organizations will be asked to make financial contributions to help defray the cost of the project and participation from government and non-profit organizations.
